Spooky Vampire Costumes and Props on the Web

Written on December 12, 2011 by Hansen

During the September and October months they are loaded with great stuff. Keep in mind that the masks may run you 60 bucks or more. But, they’re totally worth it and can be used over and over as much as you like. A huge step up from the drugstore garbage.

Don’t wait around this Halloween until the last minute! If you’re searching for an adult or teen Halloween costume, then I suggest you do the necessary recon work ahead of time. Allow Google to seek out a massive selection of spooky vampire costumes and props on the web.

You won’t have any difficulty finding that costume of your dreams, or someone else’s nightmares. After all, that is what All Hallows Eve is about. Be sure you find the right child, adult or teen Halloween costume this Halloween. You only get to do this once each year.

What is great about choosing teen Halloween vampire costumes is their age. What I mean by this is that they are no longer afraid of some of the things that bothered them when they were younger. In fact, they may now love the scary stuff, and this theme won’t give them nightmares.

What you may notice when you are out on Halloween night is that there are many teenagers out having fun. You may not think they should be knocking on doors and asking for candy, but they want to enjoy the holiday as much as they did when they were younger.

70′s Disco Costumes

70’s disco costumes keep getting more popular every year, it seems every time I go to a themed event or party I always notice the large number of people who like to wear Disco Costumes as fancy dress attire.

In such occasions there is no better way to reliving the memories of the past than this. Some of my friends who enjoy going out and being part of the action at night find this look being great on them. Dressing like a hippie, with peace signs is particularly cool don’t forget to give the peace sign as you pass people to get into theme.

Women wore mini dresses or hot pants back in the 70’s and the look wearing hot pants was puffy smocked blouses with thigh high black boots fluttered a lot of men’s hearts when a woman dressed in this outfit entered a room.

If not the hot pants wear mini skirt or dress and dare to wear as short as you are game. Must get the white patent leather boots though as they make the outfit.

Males normally wear fitted shirts with big collars which I still have hanging at the back of the closet as I paid a lot of money for this shirt once upon a time.

This costume will give you a look of back in the 70’s which you will want to wear over and over again.

Day of the Dead Married Skeleton Couple Costumes

Skeletons are certainly a familiar site on Halloween night. What might not be as common are the married day of the dead costumes couple. Perhaps these are a bit unique because you pretty much have to buy them online.

Last Halloween my boyfriend and I dressed up as this famous skeleton couple and we got more compliments than we could count. Every year we dress up for the Halloween parties and events we attend. We have done it all from cute, sexy, funny, we’ve even done the group Halloween costumes thing.

Still, this ethnic, folk art looking couples costume has won us the most accolades. I will confess that our makeup was exceptional that year. We spent some time a few days before drawing sketches and practicing our designs on our faces. It was worth it! We made a delightfully dead skeleton couple that day.

Interesting Saw Jigsaw Costume Designs

With the World Wide Web in full swing, there are plenty of options (like Saw Jigsaw costumes) when it comes to exciting and cheap Halloween costumes for October 31st. If you haven’t looked on websites like Halloween Express, BuyCostumes.com, and costumeexpress.com, you had better get started before the middle of October. Ideally you should begin searching for a pirate, vampire, monster, or princess costume sometime in September.

Although this may sound early to some individuals, it is really not. You have to consider that there are 300 million people residing the in the United States alone. When you think about the fact that most of them will be after cheap Halloween costumes for this year’s night of trick-or-treating, there may not be many good costumes left when October 31st arrives.

Size is commonly an issue. I know when I start shopping around online and in local shops for cheap Jigsaw Halloween costumes, I sometimes have trouble finding the right size. While they may very well have the exact costume or spooky get-up I want, the size may be too small or too large.

Well, this basically means I am out of luck. You’ve probably been there before. Naturally it stinks! This is why Halloween costume shopping begins in August or September in my house. This allows you to really see what all new Jigsaw costumes and decorations are available for purchase, before they have been picked over.

You may also want to see if you can find some hair extensions instead of Halloween Jigsaw costume wigs. You can dye these any color you wish, and then add them to your head. Remember when using wild colors that some do not come out as dark as they should when dying any type of hair.

A Thriller Michael Jackson Costume

Written on October 13, 2011 by Hansen

So you want to be Michael Jackson for Halloween? Well here are some ideas that will have you looking like MJ in no time.

First you want to obtain the essential pieces of the costume, which are a hat, black shoes and white gloves. Now keep in mind you can change up any of these pieces as needed depending what era or what style of Michael you want to reflect (smooth criminal, thriller, etc) but for this costume we are going to go with the Thriller theme.

We will be starting with a sort of red jumpsuit as this is what he wears in his video. If you cannot find anything that fits close enough you could start with a black t-shirt and wear an open red leather jacket over the shirt, and find some matching red leather pants.

Find a fine black hair wig and put a generous amount of gel inside it and style it in such a way that it looks similar to the king of pop’s hair but messy enough to belong to a zombie. As for the face, I would suggest either using one of the many makeup kits that can be found, or buying a simple zombie mask at your local costume shop. You will be a zombified music legend in a Michael Jackson outfit in no time

Homemade Halloween Costumes

Making Halloween Costumes That Cost Less

Lots of people like to dress up for Halloween, not just kids. But modern Halloween costumes are either cheap and poorly made, looking just about as attractive, or very expensive. One of the best ways to keep the costs down during this holiday is to make at least part of the costume yourself.

Getting together a sketch or photograph of the costume you want to imitate is the first thing you need to do for your homemade Halloween costumes. For dressing up as an object or animal, you’ll also need to consider what to make your costume out of. Depending on the weather, your personal preferences, and more, a perfectly satisfactory dog costume can be made out of fake fur, a sweat suit, or even a leotard and tights. Other costumes are similarly flexible.

If any pieces of the costume can be made from altering clothing, you first stop should be a thrift store. Taking the arms off shirts, cutting legs off jeans, sewing on patches and more can be done with thrift store clothes without feeling like you are wasting money. And for items that will remain intact, borrow from your closet, and those of friends and family.

Consider the parts of the outfit that you can make. If you intend to be a dog, cutting out felt pieces for ears and pinning them to your hair should be well within most people’s skills. If you are an accomplished seamstress, making an entire costume is a possibility. Shop for materials in the bargain bin to keep costs down.

For specific insignia, clothing, and other items that you cannot easily emulate, look online. Internet retailers usually have the best prices and the widest selection of these items. But start looking well ahead of time, because the best and cheapest options are always the first to sell out.

Don’t buy new shoes if you want to keep your costs down. Shoes are expensive, and it is much better to buy used ones or re-purpose a pair in your closet, if possible. Shoe covers on a pair of boots you already own are appropriate in many situations. If you really need a specific pair, however, start looking in clearance sections and at thrift stores early and often. It might take a while to find the right size and style.

If you are going to be wearing a significant amount of makeup, buy stage makeup or face paint. This is generally cheaper than Halloween face painting kits, and works just as well. Face painting kits are sold at craft stores, art supply shops, and also online. Characters in less makeup can get away with cheap drugstore options.

The items that make up your sexy homemade Halloween costumes do not need to be particularly durable. One-night only use is common with these outfits, and making them more durable than needed can be a waste of money unless you will wear them again. Cardboard, card-stock, paper, foil, and other flimsy options can be great, cheap ways to make your costume look just like you want it to.

Clone Trooper Costume Brings a New Lease on Life

Written on October 8, 2011 by Lisa

A nursing home for paraplegics housed 40 residents. Whatever life they have was always spent on wheelchairs and beds. Television, reading materials, board games and talks are their forms of recreation. Sometimes they ask themselves if that’s all they’re going to do until the end of their days. They miss the active days of their life. How they long for those days to come back. Most days can be really boring when you’re sitting on wheels all the time.
One afternoon a 30-year old paraplegic resident’s family came to visit. The resident guy was so impressed and entertained with the nine-year old Dopey, the son of his sister. Dopey was in a Clone Trooper child costume, making dance moves with his body while he sat beside his uncle. His uncle was reminded of how he used to love that movie when he was about Dopey’s age, and he would have loved a Clone Trooper child costume himself. Dopey kept on dancing with his hands and shoulders.
Hmmm… an inspiration was sparked by the dancing of Dopey. Guess what’s next?
You’re right. Dopey’s uncle started a dance group on wheels, if only to bring a challenge and something differently fun in their nursing home. And boy, oh boy, they’re having a great time!

Choosing a Girls Volturi Vampire Costume

Written on October 3, 2011 by Hansen

Filed Under: Costumes, Girls, halloween, Holidays

You are not going to find many young girls that are not fascinated, at least for a little, with vampires. They may play vampire with their friends, and they may also want to be a vampire for Halloween.

They may not ask for it on their own, but they may love the idea if you suggest it to them. Little girls tend to go for ideas that have wings, wands, and special powers. Vampires can fit right in with this. If they already have a Volturi Vampire Costume that they wear all of the time, they may be all set to go, but you may want to add some special touches for Halloween night.

When it comes to a Volturi Vampire Costume, there are some great ideas out there that you can go out and buy as a whole. For some girls, this works well, but you do have to be careful how you do it. They may see something that you bring home and tell you that it is not what they want and you are going to have to make them wear it, or go out and buy something else.

If you want to go get a Jane Halloween costume this way, you should take your little girl with you. That way she can choose what she wants, and then can not argue that it is not quite right. Making a vampire Halloween costume is rather easy if you have the right things. Costume jewelry is always going to be a nice touch. Think of pieces that have glitter and sparkle, as we all know vampires are supposed to be fancy.
