Forget the ‘Kids’ Chore Chart

If you’re a parent and have been looking at getting a little bit of structure into family life by way of using some kind of jobs roster, then you might want to forget the kids chore chart that is promoted a lot around the internet. The reason is because most kids feel hard done by anyway, and often feel they have get asked to do everything around the house. This is not true of course, but it’s how many children perceive things.

So the answer might be to make some kind of games from getting jobs done, such as rewards for accomplishments, or bonuses for not complaining about the little odd jobs they get asked to do. Better still is to include the parents on a visible chore chart and put your jobs up there alongside the kids. Why? Because when they see just how much Mum and Dad have to do around the house, they can’t possible use the ‘poor me’ card when asked to do a tiny portion of the household task.
